ミニシアターでは、塩作りについてのショートフィルムが公開されています。 4月からは昭和33年に行われていた実際の塩作り映像が放映予定です。

古代の人々は海藻を天日干にし、浮き上がった塩の粒を海水で洗い濃い海水を
精製し、それを土器で煮立てて塩を作っていました。そんな古代の塩精製方法から
現在の精製方法まで、様々な製法を精巧なミニチュアと共に説明してあります。
世界各国の塩と、その岩塩が精製されるまでが写真とともにわかりやすく紹介されています。
また、貴重な岩塩も多数展示されています。
超巨大な岩塩に実際に触れることもできます。
揚げ浜式の製塩法で、昔から変わることのない先人の知恵が詰まった実際の道具が展示されています。
海水を運ぶ「荒潮桶」は、海水を入れると60kgにもなります。
また、塩焚きの釜は600Lものかん水が入り、釜焚きは17時間の寝ずの番となります。
揚げ浜式の塩精製は大変な手間隙がかかります。
